A traditional meditation designed to help you control your attention and cognitive processes.
Ingredients
Guided focus meditation on an object of attention like breath, visual image, chant, sound, tactile sensation, aroma, or mantra to anchor the mind and maintain awareness.
Directions
Come with a willingness to concentrate on the object of attention. Notice your mind wandering? Return to the object of focus. Allow everything else to fade into the background. Have a desire to work on control of your attention and cognitive processes. Recognize that this is a practice and be willing to be kind to yourself if you do wander. Dedicate the 30 minutes away from your busy life, leaving the phone, emails, and to do lists for a while.
BYO
Headphones or earbuds. A comfortable place to sit upright.
Warnings
Safe for everyone. Be ready to experience improved memory and concentration. Can cause spontaneous presence in the present moment and a quieted inner dialogue. May create a trance state--do not operate heavy machinery while meditating.
